Party Lights — Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 11, 2026
Party Lights is an app that controls Philips Hue lights on your local network. It is built to collect nothing.
Data collection
- No accounts. The app has no sign-up, login, or cloud backend.
- No analytics, no ads, no trackers. The app contains no analytics or advertising SDKs and sends no telemetry.
- No data leaves your device, with the two local/functional exceptions described below.
Microphone
If you enable music reactivity, the app captures audio from the microphone (or the device's audio output, if you choose that source) and analyzes it in real time, on-device, to extract loudness, frequency bands, and beats. Audio is never recorded, stored, or transmitted — each fraction of a second of audio is discarded immediately after analysis. Turning music reactivity off stops the capture.
Network use
- The app talks directly to your Hue Bridge over your local Wi-Fi network to control your lights (HTTPS and DTLS-encrypted UDP).
- If automatic bridge discovery fails, the app can query Signify's public
discovery endpoint (
https://discovery.meethue.com) which returns the local IP address of bridges on your network. No personal data is included in this request beyond your public IP address, which is inherent to any web request.
Data stored on your device
The app stores your bridge's address and its pairing keys (encrypted with the Android Keystore), plus your in-app settings and presets. Uninstalling the app deletes all of it.
